25 Goalkeepers With The Most Clean Sheets Since The Year 2000

It is almost impossible for a side to challenge for a silverware without a reliable presence between the posts.  Here is a list of top 25 goalkeepers with the most clean sheets.

25. Kasper Schmeichel – 205 Clean Sheets

The 33-year-old is one of the best keepers in the world at Leicester City following in the footsteps of his father, Peter.

24. Mark Schwarzer – 207 Clean Sheets.

One of the Premier League finest. The Australian was a permanent fixture between the posts for Middlesbrough and then Fulham between 1997 and 2013.

23. Andreas Isaksson – 210 Clean Sheets.

Sweden’s former number 1 enjoyed his best domestic days at PSV Eindhoven. The 38-years-old retired from the professional game in 2018.

22. Silvio Proto – 212 Clean Sheets.

The 37-years-old excelled at Anderlecht between 2005 and 2016 and the Belgian is still on the books at Lazio.

A bit of a surprise to see the Bournemouth man in the top 25, but then you remember the Pole’s immensely successful spell at Celtic between 2005 and 2010.

Inter Milan and former Brazil’s number 1 was a mighty fine player in his prime. The 40-year-old announced his retirement back in 2018.

19. Thibaut Courtois – 218 Clean Sheets.

The fact is still just 28 and already 19th on this list is impressive. The Belgian is now excelling at Real Madrid and will be flying up the order in no time at all.

18. Steve Mandanda – 219 Clean Sheets.

The Frenchman is still going strong with Marseille enjoying a stellar personal campaign in 2019/20.

17. Volkan Demirel – 219 Clean Sheets.

The Turk was a mainstay in Fenerbahce’s team for 17 years afer his debut in 2002. Demirel announced his retirement last year.

16. Joe Hart – 230 Clean Sheets.

A big bit of laughing stock these days, but Hart’s statistics warrant some respect be put on his name. At Manchester City, the Englishman was one of the very best in the world.

15. Samir Handnovic – 230 Clean Sheets.

Still one of the finnest goalkeepers in the business with Inter Milan. Amazingly, his Slovenian countryman Jan I lack doesn’t make the top 25.

14. Allan McGregor – 240 Clean Sheets.

A Ranger legend and Scotsman is still a regular in Steven Gerrard’s team at the age of 38.

13. Tim Howard – 242 Clean Sheets.

A candidate for the most underrated keeper of the Premier League era. The American stint with Everton between 2006 and 2016 wa enormously successful.

12. Rui Patricio – 244 Clean Sheets.

A Sporting Lisbon icon, Portugal number 1 and currently smashing it at Wolves. Is it any surprise to see Patricio in the 12th? Absolutely not.

11. Hugo Lloris – 253 Clean Sheets.

France’s World Cup winning captain and arguably Tottenham’s greatest ever goalkeeper. There is still time for Lloris to get himself into the top 10 as well.

10. Mickael Landreau – 253 Clean Sheets.

The man with the most Ligue 1 appearances ever with 618. The now retired Frenchman excelled at Nantes, Paris Saint-Germain, Lille and Bastia.

9. Victor Valdés – 260 Clean Sheets.

One of Barcelona’s greatest ever. The retired Spaniard is now trying to make his way into managerial world.

8. Edwin Van Der Sar – 266 Clean Sheets.

A goalkeeping icon. Van Der Sar enjoyed success with Ajax, Juventus and Fulham before going on to become a Manchester United legend during the final stage of his career.

7. Andriy Pyatov – 269 Clean Sheets.

Shaktar Donetsk and Ukraine’s man between the posts. The 36-year-old is still going strong with both and will almost certainly significantly add to his tally in coming years.

6. Igor Akinfeew – 316 Clean Sheets.

No keeper has kept more clean sheets in the history of Russian football than Akinfeew. He made his CSKA Moscow debut at the age of 16 and becomes club number 1 at 17 in 2003.

5. Manuel Neuer – 327 Clean Sheets.

Fifth on the list overall, but the Bayern Munich shot-stopper has the highest percentage of clean sheets compared to game played at 46.8%. what a player!

4. Pepe Reina – 343 Clean Sheets.

We can’t see Reina adding more clean sheets to his record at Aston Villa, but his brilliance with Liverpool, Villareal and Napoli, see the Spaniard sitting cosy in fourth.

3. Petr Cech – 391 Clean Sheets.

We all forget just how good Cech was with Chelsea. His escapades with the Blues put him comfortably top of the Premier League’s all time clean sheets chart with 202 to his name.

2. Gianluigi Buffon – 420 Clean Sheets.

Buffon recently signed a contract extension with Juventus, so the 42- year-old icon may have a shot at taking the number 1 position before he retires.

1. Iker Casillas – 439 Clean Sheets.

But it’s going to be mighty hard for Buffon though Casillas top spot by quite a distance, amassing comfortably more than double the clean sheets of 25 the placed Schmeichel.
